May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor

My goodness, it's been a while since my last post. Sorry about that, I suppose nails haven't really been on my mind recently. I've been doing a lot of singing and attempting to write some new songs, which has become an incredibly frustrating task. I have been doing some serious thinking about shtuff though, and to hear more on that, you can head over to my other (more personal) blog, at chunkymonkeytales.blogspot.com.

Now, about the nails! The whole reason you are looking at this website! (I think?)

Originally, I just wanted to do a glitter fade with my two new nail polishes, Ray-diant and Dragon Breath (both China Glaze, from my awesome coworker). After it was done, I realized that I had accidentally given myself a Hunger Games manicure (Effie Trinket, people, come on). I have decided to embrace this and hence the title of this post.

I'm not going to explain any further than that because if you really don't know aaaaanything about The Hunger Games, I'm just gonna let you do a quick Google search. How have you not heard about it? How do you not know what it's about? Seriously people, my goodness. My goodness.

Okay, less hunger-gamey than it seemed to me.

I swear, in the daylight, this really looked gold.

Strawberry? How About RAWBERRY?

Last night I made my nails into itty bitty strawberries! I took the design from (yet another) Cutepolish video, and I think it turned out pretty well.

I want to get a true red from OPI, but I haven't settled on one yet. I'm going shopping next week, so hopefully I'll find something perfect so I can update you with some swatches.

 

On another note, I'm going to start posting swatches of new polishes!

It's A Me Party! A Party For One!

If you haven't seen the new Muppets movie yet, SEE IT. It is so good and amazing, and I wish I could get all of the polishes in their OPI collection, but alas, the one I want the most is Rainbow Collection, the most gorgeous rainbow glitter I've ever seen (take that, Deborah Lippman). BUT, it's been completely sold out everywhere I look.

Anyways, MY nails are inspired by (again) a cutepolish tutorial, and she calls them "Birthday" nails, but I completely thought of the song from the new Muppets movie, "Me Party." Cause when I look at my hands, I feel totally happy, and it's something I do for me.

A Rose By Any Other Name

I got SO many compliments on these nails. I guess they're pretty eye-catching, someone on the bus even said they were "amazing." I love getting compliments on stuff I do! These nails were surprisingly easy though, and I got the tutorial from cutepolish. I must say also, I love Orly Instant Artist striper polishes, they are super easy to work with, and a pretty fair price ($6 from NailPolishCanada), but I've noticed one weird thing about them: They dry matte. I found it kinda wierd, but once you apply the topcoat, you'd never be able to tell.

One Day I'll Be A Beautiful Butterfly

This was the hardest design I've ever done. I tried it from a cutepolish youtube tutorial. They have really great videos. I wouldn't try all the designs, but the videos are well made and have a good format. I stayed up really late trying not to eff up my right hand with all the black lines. Also, I seemed to have forgotten how short my nails are, so I had a little less room to work with. Anyways, the end result, I think, was worth it. Gorgeous!
